12th Annual New Chitose Airport International Animation Festival

The one-of-a-kind festival returns to its airport home November 21-25 with films, lectures, and exhibitions from Japanese and international creators.

The New Chitose Airport International Animation Festival, a festival dedicated to animated films, returns for its 12th edition to the terminal building of New Chitose Airport (Hokkaido, Japan), which connects Hokkaido with the rest of the world.

The festival not only attracts attention as one of the few film festivals in the world where all screenings, lodgings, and stays are completed at the airport, but also boasts the largest number of entries in the competition section in Japan. The festival offers a multifaceted program, including lectures by Japanese and foreign creators, and exhibitions in public spaces. It has now grown into one of Japan’s top animation film festivals.

New Chitose received 2479 submissions from 97 countries/regions around the world with 5 selected for the Feature Film competition, 62 for the Short Film competition, and 8 for the 30 Second Animation competition. The festival runs November 21-25 in Hokkaido, Japan. More information is available on the event website.
