The Quickdraw Animation Society’s annual event is back for its 21st year with the best independent and experimental animation from around the world.
The Giant Incandescent Resonating Animation Festival (GIRAF) is an annual celebration of independent animation, showcasing Canadian animations as well as presenting diverse animation from around the world. Interactive activities including workshops, artist talks, installations, live performances, visiting artists, and screenings, GIRAF 21 presents animation as an art form. By showcasing films that push boundaries through the development of new techniques, hybrid forms of creation, and challenging subject matter, the festival encourages creators to expand what animation can do.
GIRAF 21 runs November 13-16 in person at the Globe Cinema in Calgary, Alberta, and online November 17-23. For more information, visit the website here.
